Heading: Now instructions have been given to check my and my wife’s car
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress’s crown prince MP Abhishek Banerjee, while addressing a political rally in Cooch Behar on Tuesday, alleged that the Election Commission is now working on the instructions of senior BJP leaders in Delhi. The arrest of the IPAC director is also a part of that instruction. Abhishek Banerjee further alleged that now they have been given orders to search the vehicles of me and my wife Rujira. The Trinamool MP accused the Commission of political vendetta. Abhishek made this claim by making public a screenshot of a WhatsApp message related to this. Abhishek Banerjee claimed that, seeing its defeat certain, the BJP has now resorted to the politics of revenge in connivance with the Election Commission.
According to the commission’s message shared by Trinamool, an order has been issued to search the vehicles of all Trinamool leaders and ministers, except party chief Mamata Banerjee. The directive specifically mentions the names of Abhishek Banerjee and Rujira Banerjee. The message clearly states that, under no circumstances, the vehicles of these two individuals should be excluded from the scope of this search.
The state assembly elections are scheduled for this month. Clearly, at this juncture, the responsibility for maintaining law and order in the state rests squarely with the Election Commission. In the interest of ensuring peaceful elections, the Commission has already made several changes to the state’s police and administrative machinery. These moves, in turn, have sparked controversy. Against this backdrop, a WhatsApp message from the Commission has now surfaced in the public domain.
The chat alleges that money was being embezzled under the guise of organizing health camps. Consequently, orders were issued to search the vehicles of all Trinamool Congress leaders and ministers, except for party chief Mamata Banerjee. The names of Abhishek Banerjee and Rujira Banerjee were specifically mentioned in this context. The message clearly ordered that the vehicles of these two individuals should not be excluded from the search process under any circumstances. Citing a screenshot of this message, the Trinamool Congress launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission.
In a statement, the Trinamool Congress asserted that, through a message circulated on a WhatsApp group, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed police, other observers, and CAPF officials to search the vehicles of All India Trinamool Congress leaders and their family members. The directive specifically names Trinamool Congress National General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee. Furthermore, Trinamool Congress’s election campaign activities and public relations programs have been targeted. The Trinamool Congress alleges that this directive was issued solely to serve specific political interests. They launched a scathing attack on the Commission, accusing it of acting as an agent of the BJP.
